Gus and Estée have started working on demos for a third album. More to come!
”I have just returned home from a short trip to Texas and California. SXSW was a wonderful and inspiring experience and we played our first show in Los Angeles. I must say it was one of my favorite shows I ever played and now I can hardly wait to play out west some more! Also I have somehow managed to write 10 new songs for a third album. So soon we’ll be recording hopefully, so stay tuned. That is all for this transmission from the road. Have a terrific day!” -Gus
Gus will be returning on the road this spring! See poster below to find out if he is going to come through a city near you and if he does make sure you get your tickets here.
A Cowboy in Paris is an autobiographical documentary film by Estée Preda and Gus Englehorn capturing life on the road while they were touring Europe during the fall of 2022. Shot on super 8 film in a laconic cinema vérité style, the documentary strings together a series of live performances punctuated by mundane moments captured on the road. The melancholic, slow and meandering pace tries to approximate real time for the audience.
A retrospective on the recording process of Death & Transfiguration told by Gus Englehorn.
Here’s some archival footage from 2019 while Gus and Estée were making their very first music video for the song Transform with their friend Matt Charland.
”Here’s a performance that took place on March 27th 2021 which also just so happens to be Estée’s birthday. And what a birthday present it was! We always dreamt of playing on a set that made us feel like we were performing on the Ed Sullivan show. It made for one of our favorite live shows we’ve ever played even though there were only cameramen in the audience because it was during covid. Another fun fact is that it was the first time we ever played Tarantula live.” -Gus
To highlight Death & Transfiguration’s 3 year anniversary we are releasing a limited edition of cassette tapes with custom covers hand painted by Estée. Get one while you can, they sell like hot cakes! Get one here: https://gusenglehorn.bandcamp.com/merch
A word from Gus: I had spent my entire life from when I was 8 years old to my late twenties riding my snowboard. And then suddenly it was over. I lost all my sponsors and at a loss for what to do next I put myself to the task of writing an album. I dedicated nearly every waking hour of everyday for 5 years to writing this 26 minutes long album. It was a transitional period for me. The death of my old self and the transfiguration into the new. Today marks the 3rd year of Death & Transfiguration since its release. For those of you who discovered my music with Dungeon Master, I invite you to give it a listen. Estée and I dug in our archives and we will be releasing some choice morsels in the coming days!
